Over 1,000 Affordable Housing units have come online during my Council terms, with 831 more approved and under development and 360 currently under review. An updated Affordable Housing Strategy was approved in 2022 to create even more units to meet the needs of Richmond residents.

Richmond lies about 1 metre above sea level.  We have a robust diking strategy that we have been updating on a regular basis.  Having a strategy means that we have a clear plan to raise our dikes and replace and upgrade our pump stations to protect homes, businesses and residents from flooding.  Our strategy helps us to obtain regular funding from the Federal and Provincial orders of government to help us pay for all of our dike upgrades.
We also have an emergency preparedness plan in the event of catastrophic flooding which includes partnerships and agreements to react and get teams and equipment in place.
The City of Richmond has opened 12 Childcare centres that are operated by not-for-profit organizations - providing quality childcare at subsidized rates for working families here in Richmond.
